- Drive a less powerful car with a smaller engine. These tend to be far cheaper to insure than something big and powerful.
- Drive with care and be conscious of other road users. The last thing you want is to get involved in a car accident or gain points on your licence whilst you're still learning to drive - both of which could increase your learner driver insurance premiums.
- Try to limit your mileage. While you're learning to drive you probably won't be ramping up the number of miles you do over the course of the year. It may be worth declaring a low number of miles travelled whilst you are still learning to help keep your insurance low. Just make sure you tell the insurer if you plan to increase mileage once you pass your driving test.
