Wasting Fuel - Cluttering Your Boot

October 16, 2012

As a young driver the cost of motoring can be a burden - whether it’s fuel prices taking their toll on your wallet or young drivers’ insurance. As a result you’ll undoubtedly be looking for ways you can save money.

Did you know that by cluttering your car's boot you could be wasting fuel?

Well a study by Shell has revealed that 22% of drivers use their boot as a type of permanent storage. In addition to this as many as 32% of motorists keep over 5 items in the boot at one time.

Items such as gym equipment, golf clubs, pushchairs and baby equipment are all said to be constant offenders.

As a result of storing all this surplus baggage motorists are literally “burning away” expensive fuels unnecessarily.

Consequently Shell has launched a campaign to help save motorists money on their fuel known as "Target One Million". The aim of which is to help and educate at least one million drivers Worldwide by teaching them how to save fuel.
