Southend Temporary Driving Test Centre Opens
May 23, 2012

Learner drivers will now be able to take their driving tests in Southend for the first time in four years.
A temporary driving exam centre has been setup to allow resident learner driver insurance holders to take their tests locally.
The opening of the new test centre marks a success for Southend and District Driving Instructors Association who have been lobbying for one since the old centre closed in 2008.
Commenting on the move to open the centre, spokesman Tony Myhill said: “It is giving the people of Southend a vital service, and it’s going to save the driving instructors fuel and time."
Mr Myhill added that the move makes perfect sense as local people will be able to take tests on the streets that they will use most frequently.
It is hoped that the temporary test centre, setup to ease the three month waiting list, will lead to something more permanent.
