Fuel costs top motorists' pet hates

High fuel costs and bad driving techniques are motorists' greatest bugbears.
That is according to a poll by breakdown company Autonational Rescue, which asked drivers what most annoys them.
The poll found fuel prices and shabby drivers anger motorists even more than the cost of car parking, high car insurance premiums and high car-servicing bills, which came third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Autonational's marketing manager Ronan Hart said of the survey, which involved 1,013 adults: "The UK consistently ranks among the top three most expensive countries for fuel prices for motorists in the entire world, with only Norway regularly beating us."
He added: "One of the few good things to come out of this time of austerity is that many councils are cutting back, or even removing, their public car parking charges, principally to bring shoppers into their towns and cities rather than to specifically help the motorist.
"But so much more should be done to keep the cost of motoring down."
The cost of fuel and car parking is especially tough on learner drivers, who already have to cover the price of lessons and learner driver insurance.
The poll revealed just 2% get most worked up over toll road or city congestion charges, and just 3% get most angry about pollution from vehicles.
